Why Is Akedo Dropping Today? AKE Down 20% as Rally Unwinds

In a nutshell: Why is Akedo dropping today? AKE is giving back a fast, leverage-driven rally that came right after a large monthly token unlock on October 21, and it is doing it in a weak market for small altcoins. No hack, delisting or project-specific bad news has been reported. At 1:10 a.m. ET (5:10 a.m. UTC / 10:10 a.m. PKT) on October 25, 2026, Akedo traded around $0.0298, down about 20% in 24 hours, the worst drop in the top 100, per CoinGecko.

Why Is Akedo Dropping Today?

The short answer to why is Akedo dropping today: the price ran up quickly on borrowed money, and that kind of rally tends to reverse just as quickly. At our check, AKE’s 24-hour range ran from about $0.0340 down to $0.0285. Akedo ranked #90 by market value (about $683 million), with about $23.7 million in 24-hour trading volume (CoinGecko). It was roughly flat over seven days and down about 21% over 30 days.

The rest of the market was much calmer. CoinGecko showed Bitcoin near $80,830 (about flat) and Ether near $2,365 (down about 0.6%). In CoinGecko’s top-100 list, the next-worst performers were Pearl (PEARL) and ether.fi (ETHFI), each down about 6.3% (CoinGecko). TokenPost’s 12:06 a.m. ET snapshot also had AKE leading decliners, down 21.93% to $0.0297, as 65 of the 90 largest non-stablecoin assets fell. It noted Akedo had led decliners on October 24 too (TokenPost).

What Is Akedo (AKE)?

Akedo describes itself as a multi-agent AI framework that lets creators build simple games from plain-language prompts. AKE is its token on BNB Chain. Total supply is 100 billion AKE, and about 22.8 billion were circulating at our check, so most of the supply is still locked (CoinGecko). AKE set its all-time high of about $0.147 on September 20, 2026, and now trades about 80% below it.

Main Reason: A Leverage-Driven Rally Is Unwinding

To see today’s drop, you have to look at the last five days. Coinranking’s futures data show AKE closing October 21 at about $0.0239, down from $0.0328 the day before. It then bounced to about $0.0315 on October 22 and about $0.0391 on October 23, a gain of roughly 64% in two days (Coinranking).

That bounce was driven mostly by futures traders, not spot buyers. AMBCrypto reported on October 23 that AKE’s futures volume was outpacing spot volume by about 93 times, citing analyst Professor On-Chain, and that open interest had jumped 90.5% to about $101 million while derivatives volume rose 81% to $608 million, using CoinGlass data (AMBCrypto). Coinranking’s own figures show the futures funding rate climbing to about 0.061% on October 23, from about 0.017% the day before. A higher funding rate means traders betting on a rise were paying more to keep those bets open.

Rallies built this way are fragile. When the price stops rising, leveraged buyers start closing positions, and some get forcibly closed, which adds selling and can push the price lower still. Our explainers on perpetual futures and how liquidation works walk through that chain reaction step by step.

What this means: Much of the October 22 to 23 jump came from borrowed money. Today’s fall looks like that money leaving, so the price is heading back toward where it traded before the rally.

The October 21 Token Unlock

The rally and the reversal both came days after a large unlock. TokenPost listed Akedo’s October 21 release, valued at about $63.26 million, as the biggest unlock of the October 19–25 week and said it equaled about 9.25% of AKE’s market cap (TokenPost). Crypto exchange WEEX, citing DropsTab vesting data, put the release at about 2.11 billion AKE, split among investors (about 1.00 billion), the community allocation, early contributors and advisors, and said AKE unlocks this amount on the 21st of every month (WEEX). An unlock means locked tokens become free to move, and holders who receive them can sell.

Trackers don’t fully agree on the size. RootData listed a much smaller figure of about 21.3 million AKE for the same date (ChainCatcher), so treat the exact number with care. Past unlocks have been followed by weakness: AMBCrypto noted that AKE fell 22% and 49% in the week after its two previous unlocks. We saw a similar unlock setup with Worldcoin’s drop yesterday.

Other Factors Behind the AKE Drop

  • A soft market for altcoins. CoinMarketCap’s CMC AI summary linked AKE’s weakness to a broad altcoin selloff and found no AKE-specific catalyst (CoinMarketCap). On October 24, TokenPost counted 78 of the 90 largest cryptocurrencies down over 24 hours (TokenPost).
  • Thin trading compared with its size. AKE’s daily volume is small next to its roughly $683 million market cap, so a wave of selling moves the price more than it would for a larger coin.
  • A big locked supply. With less than a quarter of the 100 billion AKE circulating (CoinGecko) and monthly releases continuing, future unlocks remain an overhang that traders watch.

What to Watch Next

  • Open interest and funding: If open interest keeps shrinking and the funding rate cools, the leveraged positions are mostly gone. Our guide to funding rates explains how to read that signal.
  • The next unlock: If the monthly schedule reported by WEEX holds, the next release is due on November 21.
  • The wider market: The CMC AI summary points to the Federal Reserve meeting on October 27–28 as the next big event for overall risk appetite.
  • Charts: If you follow the price, our guide on how to read crypto charts explains candlesticks, volume and trends.

FAQ

Did Akedo get hacked today?

No hack, exploit or delisting appears in the coverage we reviewed for October 21–25. CMC AI and CoinStats both found no project-specific news behind the move (CoinStats).

Why is Akedo falling more than Bitcoin?

AKE had just rallied about 64% in two days on heavy futures trading, and that kind of move often reverses sharply. It is also far smaller than Bitcoin, so the same selling moves its price much more.

How much AKE unlocked on October 21?

TokenPost and WEEX put it at about 2.11 billion AKE, worth roughly $62 million to $72 million depending on the price used, or about 9.25% of market cap. RootData reported a much smaller number, so the figure isn’t fully settled.
